About MaiaEdge

Three decades of connecting networks.

Maia Edge About Hero

Our Story

We've spent our careers building the infrastructure that lets networks talk to each other. Session Border Controllers at Acme Packet. Intelligent routing at 128 Technology. We've seen what happens when networks connect well, and what breaks when they don't.

MaiaEdge exists because we believe network operators shouldn't lose automation, visibility, and control the moment traffic crosses their edge. Today, extending service beyond your own footprint means months of manual integration and blind spots once packets leave your network. That's not a technical limitation. It's a missing layer of infrastructure. We're building that layer.

Our Vision

An operator-owned Federated Private Network where any provider can deliver private connectivity to any organization, anywhere, instantly, with full visibility and control across every hop.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MaiaEdge?

MaiaEdge provides purpose-built carrier infrastructure that enables network operators to automatically interconnect isolated networks into one cohesive fabric, so they can activate private paths anywhere, instantly.

The solution combines edge hardware, the Path Border Controller (PBC), with a cloud-native orchestrator, the Path Computation Engine (PCE). Together, they enable network operators to unify fragmented infrastructure within their own network and extend service reach across external boundaries by federating with partner providers. MaiaEdge was founded by the team behind Acme Packet and 128 Technology.

What is Federated Private Networking?

Federated Private Networking is a network architecture where operators can work together to deliver instant private connectivity anywhere while each maintains complete sovereignty, including full visibility, policy control, and ownership of every customer relationship.

Traditional interconnection requires months of manual coordination, LOAs, VLAN negotiations, and BGP configuration. Once traffic leaves one provider's network domain, visibility, automation, and SLA control vanish. Federated Private Networking eliminates this friction, enabling operators to establish NNIs in minutes and automatically provision private paths across network domains, while maintaining complete SLA control, visibility, and sovereignty.

What problem does MaiaEdge solve?

Fragmented networks prevent operators from meeting enterprise expectations for on-demand private connectivity to any location, cloud, AI workload, or security service. Traditional methods for interconnecting isolated network domains are manual and complex. Once traffic leaves one provider's domain, visibility, SLA control, and automation vanish.

MaiaEdge enables network operators to deliver private connectivity to any network instantly. Automated provisioning across internal and external network domains speeds time to service delivery and enables operators to expand service reach beyond their physical footprint, while maintaining end-to-end visibility, SLA control, and sovereignty over customer relationships.

Is MaiaEdge a Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) provider?

MaiaEdge is not a Network-as-a-Service provider. NaaS providers like Megaport and Equinix own and operate connectivity fabrics and deliver services directly to enterprises. MaiaEdge provides carrier infrastructure that network operators deploy on their own networks to build and deliver their own connectivity services, keeping the customer relationship, brand, and margin in-house

How is MaiaEdge different from Megaport or Equinix?

Megaport and Equinix are Network-as-a-Service providers that own circuits and deliver services directly to enterprises. MaiaEdge is an infrastructure provider. MaiaEdge provides carrier-grade infrastructure that enables network operators to create their own network fabric by automating provisioning across their network and extending service reach by federating with partner providers.

MaiaEdge integrates with Equinix Fabric and Megaport APIs, enabling operators to offer cloud on-ramps, including AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, and Google Cloud Interconnect, seamlessly, under their brand and without traditional routing complexity.

How does MaiaEdge work?

MaiaEdge combines a 1RU edge device (PBC) with cloud-native orchestration (PCE) to activate deterministic private paths across network domains automatically.

Path Border Controllers deploy at network boundaries, including carrier hotels, meet-me rooms, and PoPs. The PBC merges L2 switching and L3 routing for transport flexibility across fiber and DIA. The cloud-based Path Computation Engine calculates optimal end-to-end paths and provides hop-by-hop visibility (jitter, loss, latency) across your entire fabric.

With MaiaEdge, providers can activate deterministic private paths automatically, without CLI commands, BGP, OSPF, or MPLS complexity. Each path is secured with line-rate AES-256-GCM IPsec encryption.

Does MaiaEdge replace my existing infrastructure?

No. MaiaEdge sits alongside your existing network infrastructure. It adds automation and visibility capabilities without requiring rip-and-replace.

Your core routers and backbone remain unchanged. MaiaEdge adds what your existing infrastructure cannot provide: instant provisioning across network boundaries and hop-by-hop telemetry on paths you do not fully own.

Who is MaiaEdge for?

MaiaEdge serves fiber operators, colocation providers, and service providers who want to automate interconnections, extend reach, and gain visibility across network boundaries.

Fiber operators use MaiaEdge to deliver more than basic connectivity. They automate provisioning, federate with partners to extend reach, and offer cloud on-ramps under their brand.

Colocation providers use MaiaEdge to deliver fabric-like capabilities without years of development. This includes automated cross-connects, tenant self-service portals, and instant cloud connectivity. The PBC pairs with the MaiaEdge Port Extender for 48 additional tenant ports.

Service providers use MaiaEdge to deliver off-net services as seamlessly as on-net. They maintain visibility and sovereignty across partner networks and Type 2 circuits.
